The Creative Coalition is formed! A kickoff meeting is held at Sardi’s to invite arts and entertainment industry professionals to join - Marian Wright Edelman of the Children’s Defense Fund is the speaker.

Meeting on Voter Registration. Speakers: Arthur Kropp, President, People for the American Way; and Dr. Carolyn Goodman, mother of Andrew Goodman, one of 3 civil rights workers murdered in Mississippi.
July 1989
Member Dan Greenburg contributes his advertising writing skills to People for the American Way.
Sept. 27, 1989
The membership declares themselves “pro-choice” by unanimous vote at Sardi’s membership meeting. Members meet at Sardi’s and vote to support homelessness as a TCC issue, and to participate in October 7th, “Housing Now!” march in Washington, D.C. Speakers at meeting: Mitch Synder, organizer of “Housing Now!” and Andrew Cuomo, organizer of Project H.E.L.P. Michael O’Keefe, Board member of Greyston Inn, which employs, counsels and houses homeless in Yonkers, and Juan Batista of the Federal Interagency on Homeless, who explained Bush Administration policies on homelessness. TCC Homelessness Committee established by vote of membership. Project H.E.L.P and Greyston Inn are adopted as committee projects.
October 1989
Co-founder Stephen Collins emcees fundraiser for Andrew Cuomo’s H.E.L.P. Member Elvera Vilson contributes her graphic talents to brochures describing Greyston Inn.
October 7, 1989
The Creative Coalition marches in Washington, D.C. for “Housing Now!” Members Gary Springer and Nina Streich coordinate effort.
October 25, 1989
8 days before the New York City mayoral election, David N. Dinkins and Rudy Giuliani address a membership meeting at Sardi’s.
November 3, 1989
Members Susan Sarandon and Armand Assante appear on The Eleventh Hour. They discuss homelessness and the Housing Now! march in Washington, D.C.
November 12, 1989
The Hollywood Women's Political Committee invites co-founder Ron Silver to speak on behalf of the entertainment community at a pro-choice march in Washington, D.C.
