Samuel Goldwyn Films Joins
The Creative Coalition’s Spotlight Initiative
New York, NY (February 12, 2010)
– The Creative Coalition proudly announces the
expansion of its Spotlight Initiative to include Samuel
Goldwyn Films. The Creative Coalition’s Spotlight
Initiative is an integrated partnership that supports
independent films which are influential to the national
and global agendas. Through The Spotlight
Initiative, The Creative Coalition invokes cause-related
marketing strategies to extend the reach of a film’s
message beyond the movie screen.
“We are very proud to partner with The Creative
Coalition and its Spotlight Initiative,” said Peter
Goldwyn, Samuel Goldwyn Films’ Vice President of
Acquisitions. “We, at Samuel Goldwyn Films,
recognize the power that a film can have over its
audience, and it is our goal to use that power to
inspire and promote positive social change.”
Samuel Goldwyn Films’ THE YELLOW HANDKERCHIEF
has been selected as a Spotlight Initiative film.
The film traces a road trip through post-Katrina
Louisiana. Along the way, relationships forge and change
in a myriad of ways, leading to the possibility of
second chances at life and love. Produced by six time
Academy Award® winner Arthur Cohn, THE YELLOW
HANDKERCHIEF stars Academy Award® winner William Hurt,
Golden Globe® nominee Maria Bello, TWILIGHT star Kristen
Stewart and Eddie Redmayne (THE GOOD SHEPHERD).
The film is based on a short story by renowned writer
Pete Hamill.
“This is a deeply humanistic film that not only
entertains but inspires, and provides an experiential
window into the everyday challenges faced by those who
have lived through great tragedies,” said Robin Bronk,
Executive Director of The Creative Coalition. "We
believe that the themes of THE YELLOW HANDKERCHIEF are
intrinsic to all, and the film is a most significant
messenger.”
THE YELLOW HANDKERCHIEF opens February 26th in
New York and LA before expanding to cities across the
country in the weeks to follow. For more information,
