(December 11, 2007) – Fibula, the European fine jewelry brand, has selected The Creative Coalition as it exclusive charity partner.  The partnership will be featured tonight as Fibula makes its US debut with a private cocktail reception and swanky runway show in Washington, DC. The event will highlight Max Mara’s Spring 2008 runway collection accentuated by Fibula diamonds.  Proceeds from the event and 15% from Fibula’s December sales will benefit The Creative Coalition.  more

(June 26, 2007) – The Creative Coalition urges Congress not to censor the public airwaves in response to a recently issued FCC report calling for Congress to regulate television media content. TCC is very concerned by the expressions of support at yesterday’s Senate Commerce Committee hearing for interference with the free expression of artists involved in television.  more

     

  • New York (June 25, 2007) - Presents for Purpose is helping The Creative Coalition give a VOICE to pressing cultural and social advocacy topics.  Beginning July 5th, Presents for Purpose will hold an online auction as part of its charity focused Spotlight program.  One hundred percent of the proceeds from sale of  one-of-a-kind celebrity inscribed VOICE shirts (with messages such as “Your VOICE is all you have.  Be LOUD.  Be PROUD.”) will benefit The Creative Coalition.  more

  • Washington, D.C. (June 5, 2007) – Today, The Creative Coalition announced its support of a ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit striking down federal rules on broadcast content. Yesterday, the court rejected the Federal Communications Commission’s reasoning for the new rules to replace long-established rules that were more protective of free speech. At issue were new FCC regulations that would have given the federal agency power to impose crippling fines on broadcasters for so-called “fleeting expletives.”  more

On June 4th, between the Republican and Democratic candidate debates in Manchester New Hampshire, The Creative Coalition – the nonprofit, entertainment industry-led public advocacy group – will host a brunch and roundtable discussion featuring a panel of high-profile pundits, and Hollywood activists, Talking the Talk: The Creative Coalition’s 21st Century Debate Dialogues. While many will find it difficult to make it to the space-limited event, InWorld will broadcast the event into Second Life through live streaming video.  more

  • Washington, D.C., (April 18, 2007): Tomorrow, The Creative Coalition board member and actor Kerry Washington will testify before the U.S. House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies. Ms. Washington will ask Congress to increase year-to-year funding for the National Endowment for the Arts by 41% and the National Endowment for the Humanities by 25%. Tentatively titled The Beauty Within, this coffee table book (set to be published in 2008) will feature a compilation of original celebrity portraits, each of which will be accompanied by a personal quote from the celebrity describing what inner beauty means to him or her. ALL proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to The Creative Coalition. more

(February 12, 2007) –  The Creative Coalition’s Executive Director Robin Bronk will receive a Woman of Influence Award in Las Vegas Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the Sixth Annual NBA Wives Luncheon.  Actor and Creative Coalition Board Member Kerry Washington (Last King of Scotland, Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) will present the award to Ms. Bronk.  The annual event, sponsored this year by Audemars Piguet, is held in conjunction with the upcoming NBA All-Star game.  Tamsin Smith, President of (RED), the initiative launched this past year by Bono and Bobby Shriver, will serve as the keynote speaker.  more
